“The lecture was very comprehensive…[Graham’s] breadth of knowledge
               is excellent”

We’ve all heard about the Cloud and Internet services such as:

  • Evernote
  • Dropbox
  • Google Docs
  • Flickr

Now that many of us have more than one computing device, as well as other family members who want us to share our genealogy research, the cloud offers us a way to organize, share, and transfer information with ease.

“The Cloud” is something often referred to but not necessarily always understood. It not only offers us a way to collect the data associated with family history but also to share and collaborate with other people all over the world, in real-time if we want.

Beginning with an introduction to online British record databases, Graham Walter, an IT specialist in England and a well-known genealogist in English circles, will show you how to organize your research for quick accessibility. If you have ever found yourself in a library or archive wishing you had with you your family research notes? To keep your files with you on any research trip, Cloud-based computing knowledge is the key.

This course will demonstrate British genealogy websites:
  • FindmyPast
  • BritishOrigins
  • BritishNewspaperArchives
  • Ancestry.co.uk
  • TheGenealogist

useful family history specific apps and services:
  • My Heritage
  • FindMyPast
  • Ancestry
  • FamilySearch

will be highlighted during the course as well as productivity applications such as spreadsheets, word processing and database software in the cloud.

  • Streamline and organize your British research notes
  • Share your finds with family and friends
  • Save your valuable research and photos to the Cloud
